It’s Tuesday, June 18 and 11:29pm in Downtown New Orleans.
THIS IS YOUR DDD
The safety of our residents and workforce is a top priority of the DDD. Downtown is one of the safest neighborhoods in New Orleans, thanks in part to the DDD’s robust Public Safety Ranger program, enhanced police presence, and the efforts of our citizens. Use the information on the left to learn more about DDD safety programs, including SafeWalk, homeless outreach, CPR training, and code enforcement.
The DDD is proud to partner with the French Quarter Management District and NOPD 8th District in the SafeCams8 program, a public safety initiative which allows property owners and businesses to register their privately owned video surveillance cameras directly with NOPD. The goal of SafeCams8 is to develop a comprehensive list of cameras in the 8th District that record activities occurring on the street or sidewalk. The database will allow the 8th District police to expeditiously contact a camera owner or operator when police access to a camera’s footage is needed to solve a crime or facilitate an investigation.
Participation in SafeCams8 is strictly voluntary and there is no obligation to maintain a camera’s video surveillance capability or to provide video footage to the NOPD. All information provided by a camera owner or operator when registering with SafeCams8 is transmitted directly to the NOPD, 8th District. The DDD or FQMD do not have access to the registration information.
